Educational Programs

Equipping Students with Resources to Succeed

Working with libraries, school supplies companies, and schools across the country, we provide school supplies, books, scholarships, and other educational resources to students in need.
  • Since 2009, we have run numerous school and library regional book collection programs that have distributed over 15,000 books and school supplies to students in need. We formed major partnerships with Reach Out and Read, FlatRate Moving, New York University Langone Medical Center, Mount Sinai Health System, Bellevue Hospital, and the St. Barnabas Hospital Bronx.
  • In 2015, we began the U.S.-China Intercultural Exchange to pair students in the U.S. and China together to promote and cultivate mutual understanding across cultures. More than 200 grade school students participated in the program's inaugural year. The program was funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of State.
  • In 2013, we began partnering with Alliance Publishing to donate planners to needy students. Seven elementary schools were given hundreds of planners in the partnership's inaugural year.
  • In 2011, we began a national partnership with Adopt-A-Schools across the country that has provided $20,000 worth of school supplies to Title I schools across the country.
  • In 2021, we will begin accepting applications for the inaugural class of Kids Change the World Student Scholars, a program for students with high financial need and exceptional academic/extracirricular performance in KCW-supported educational programs.

Supporting Schools

In 2009, we completed construction on the Yulin Primary School in Anhui Province, China. The school enrolls more than 350 students and over 9 classrooms, a library, a computer lab, and outdoor playground facilities. Ongoing programs and renovations have been sponsored by grants from the U.S. Department of State.

In 2018, we embarked on our second school project, a six-year renovation of the Guanghuang Primary School in China. The current elementary school serves 200+ students and lacks restrooms, a playground, as well as air conditioning. KCW has partnered with several organizations and local governmental agencies to repair the existing structures and erect five new classrooms equipped with wireless internet. This project has naming opportunities. Please contact us for more information.

Educational Resources Database

In 2008, we launched the Educational Resources Database. Now in its 10th year, the database boasts 1,500+ videos and 600 worksheet pages of primary and secondary school content.

Postgraduate students who (1) have teaching experience and (2) are masters in their respective fields volunteer their time to make short 5-minute instructional videos on core concepts in science (biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology), mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, statistics) and social studies/global history.

All Kids Change the World affiliates, volunteers, partner organizations, and programs have access to this database.
